Sabancı Holding Chairwoman Güler Sabancı said in her opening speech: "We are always to change. That is the reason we revised our categories. The six categories rewarded here are the fundamentals of our success. This year is the third of this award ceremony. This means that you are ready to compete in these areas of our success and commitment as the Sabancı Group. Welcoming competition, taking part in it are alone indicators of accepting change and the courage to strive for the better. Searching for improvement is in our culture. We will naturally be proud of our achievements. But we will never give up our search for the better.
Because we know that creating a difference and being in the forefront, being a leader are crucial in business and precursors to success. Sabancı Group had very good results in 2011. We grew and profited, continued our investments and worked together on sustainability. I thank you all for our 2011 results. We will continue on our path towards sustainable profitable growth. There are no losers here. Tonight we all win together. We will continue on our path as the Sabancı of Growing Turkey".
Sabancı Holding CEO Zafer Kurtul said in his address: "We launched the 2011 Golden Collar Awards with the "Make your success visible" slogan. Because we believe that we add more strength to our Community as we share your successes. As Sabancı Group we witness everyday how self-confident and committed you are in your work. Your successful efforts bore fruit last year too. 2011 has been a year of growth, profitability and investment for the Sabancı Group. Our 2012 goal is to maintain this growth in a profitable way. We adapted a customer and market focus in all our business areas to ensure profitable growth. We are continuing our investments in areas with strategic importance. Our foremost responsibility in all business areas and functions is efficiency... We are strengthening our companies through continuous improvement. We see risk management as very important. We are masterfully navigating financial and operational risks with our strong financial structure and diverse business units working in balance".
-FOR US "GOLDEN COLLAR" IS THE INTERNALIZATION OF WAYS OF DOING BUSINESS-
Kurtul pointed at four cornerstones of Sabancı Group targets and said: "These cornerstones are committed and efficient human resources, innovative and difference creating culture, our goal of using technology efficiently and in the right place and the power our Brand - Turkey's Sabancı - gives to our companies! With our strategy built on these foundations, our main business principle in 2012 will be the creation of sustainable value with all of our stakeholders. As you know "Golden Collar" for us is the expression of success and the internalization of our ways of doing business which we aim to spread across the group. The Golden Award categories show our companies and employees the way by pointing at the success factors they should focus on. Therefore we made some changes in the categories of the 2011 Golden Collar Awards to create parallels between the awards and our success factors we focus on to achieve our growth and profitability goals".
Kurtul pointed at the changes in the Golden Collar Award processes and said "We made some important changes in the Golden Collar processes as well as the redefinition of the categories. We developed our own methodologies in the evaluation of candidate projects. Thus we achieved expertise in our group and developed our core competencies. This allowed us to build an evaluation system that serves better to our Group's future strategies and also cut down on costs". Kurtul thanked candidates, project teams and members of the jury at the end of his address.
Sabancı Holding Human Resources Department Head Neriman Ülsever said in her speech: "We reviewed our Golden Collar concept for 2011. We started out from our sustainable profitable growth target and renewed our award categories in line with this main principle".
Ülsever continued by saying: "We used international quality standard methodologies for the specification of evaluation models and criteria for all categories. We put forward Sabancı's, our competencies. We used our knowledge and experience of the industry, business areas and business. We set up project teams of expert members of our Holding and Group companies. 33 colleagues from the Holding, all our SBUs, Companies and Sabancı University volunteered for the design process. We assessed all our categories and reviewed our processes in a short period of 2.5 months".
Ülsever pointed to the increase in submissions this year and said: " Our Golden Collar Awards will continue in parallel to our Sabancı culture and values promoting a learning, sharing, innovative, improving, experimenting and success oriented community. It is just as important to be a part of this process, to be a traveler in this journey as being on the podium tonight".
