Akçansa and Çimsa are Export Leaders in Building Materials

The 2019 export performances of Sabancı Group companies Akçansa and Çimsa won the annual awards presented by the Cement, Glass, Ceramic and Earth Products Exporters Association. The success of these companies, which are among the 5 biggest exporters of cement and clinkers in Turkey, was yet another demonstration of the contribution of the Sabancı Group to the national economy.

At the 2019 Export Champions Awards Ceremony organized by the association, Çimsa was among the companies whose success was crowned with an award, outranking once more all other companies in the cement sector with the volume of exports it made within the past year. Akçansa, on the other hand, which increased its overseas sales by 94% relative to last year and performed well above the average sectoral levels, was recognized as one of the companies “recording the highest growth in exports”. In the same ceremony, Akçansa also received the top award as the company with the highest volume of exports in clinkers in Turkey.

Commenting on the matter, the Sabancı Holding Building Materials Group President Dr. Tamer Saka remarked that that they were immensely proud and happy that their contributions to the national economy were awarded at such an important event, adding, “In 2019, 30% of the total cement exports from Turkey were carried out singlehandedly by our Building Materials Group companies. But there is still a long road ahead of us. There is a big responsibility to be shouldered by the cement and building materials sector to raise our national economy to the levels it deserves in the world and for the targeted export goals to be realized. We are continuing our efforts with this vision in sight and continue to contribute to our country through our production, investments, and exports. Our companies under the Sabancı Holding Building Materials Group managed to reach the largest export numbers in the cement sector, through their selfless production activities especially during the pandemic. Our group will take the outstanding export performance it showed last year to even higher levels in the coming years, and we will reinforce our global power in the building materials field.”
